The Municipality of Gánovce has encountered a high leakage in their water pipe network over a longer period of time. Consequently, MIKE URBAN was chosen to develop a hydrodynamic model of the pipeline network for the entire municipality.

Based on the detailed monitoring campaign combined with model’s detailed detection of the leakage, repair was carried out resulting in leakage dropping from 73% to 15% in two months. Also an optimisation of pressure conditions in the network was presented focusing on applications of new pressure reducing valves. This resulted in average pressure reduced from 46.3m to 28.1 m.
