Efficient water distribution in Tajikistan

The city of Dushanbe often suffers from lack of water due to failures of the pumping stations. Inadequate location of water pumping stations means that the water supply tanks are not an integral part of the network system. This combined with the enormous pressure on the water supply system makes it difficult to guarantee continues delivery by balancing hourly inequalities of water demand.

On this basis an international project “Implementation of water supply network hydraulic modelling in Dushanbe“ was initiated in the capital city of Tajikistan. Experts from DHI were part of this project, which included delivering the MIKE URBAN software product and devices for flow and pressure monitoring. DHI also provided training in hydraulic modelling related to the creation of a water distribution network sub-model for Dushanbe.
